1. Red Hot Chili Peppers- Otherside
The lyrics in this song best relate the theme of alienation in the novel.
"Burn me out leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that
It's not my friend
I tear it down I tear it down
And then it's born again"
In other words, I am trapped on the otherside and I feel like I'm trying to fit into a world that I never belonged in. Maybe I just belong on the otherside of the wall.
2. Drake- Cameras
The theme of phoniness shows up in the song.
"Baby girl you need to stop it -- all that pride and self esteem
Got you angry about this girl I'm with in all them magazines
Baby she look like a star, but only on camera
Only on camera, only on camera
It look like we in love, but only on camera "
This reminds me of all the phoniness I see in film. Drake explains perfectly that all the things you see in films are fake and it's "only on camera."
3. Drake- I Get Lonely Too
This song represents the theme of loneliness
"Waited on you for so longToo many days since JanuaryI'm still sitting here aloneWe shoulda did this already"
I try to meet new people, but somehow I always end up lonely. This song represents my loneliness and more importantly how much I miss Jane and I wish could go back to my childhood in Maine with her.
4. Jadakiss- Whos Real
Phoniness is a main theme in this song.
"He's Phony She's Fake Thats The Type Of People I Hate
If Your Real And You Know It Clap Your Hands...
Whose Real Whose Not? Shes Real But Hes Not"
I hate being around phony people. Nobody should be something they're not or act differently then you're supposed to. That kills me.
